ARMOR BOX COMPANY EXAMPLES

All Armor Box Company cases - except our new Soft Sides - are made of non-bending lauan plywood (the best available - made of mahogany, with no gaps or knots in any of the plys). To this, we permanently bond a protective layer of Kydex® (a Dupont material also used for the walls, seats, and tray tables of airplanes). This provides a very durable, washable wall, with an attractive finish that protects against dents and splintering. All case edges are protected with an aluminum extrusion framework and steel corners. All handles and catches are steel, with a zinc coating for an attractive finish, and are recessed into the wall of the case to prevent being sheared off during the years of shipments your case will be in use.

Shipping and storage trunks Trunk Style’ describes those cases with a handle on each end. Trunk cases can also have:
  • additional handles - on the ends, tops and/or sides
  • hinged or removable lids - whatever makes it easier for you to load/unload
  • regular catches, keylocking catches, or a hasp for your padlock
  • permanent or removable casters - swiveling or fixed, with or without locking brake levers
  • oak or aluminum fork lift skids, for handling the heaviest loads
  • custom interiors, including padded compartments, tray(s), and/or a ‘trap door’ in the lid. Appropriate foam padding is used to protect even the most delicate items. Static-dissipating foam is available, to protect sensitive electronic components from charges that can build up during shipment.

Suitcase Style’ describes those cases with one handle, either centered on the top lid or placed along the front edge. Suitcase cases can also have:
  • additional handles
  • hinged or fully removable lids
  • regular catches, keylocking catches, or a hasp for your padlock
  • interiors including custom compartments, a ‘trap door’ in the lid, briefcase inserts. Appropriate foam padding is used to protect even the most delicate items.

Tilt-and-pull rolling cases Pull-Along cases’ have a retractable steel handle (extends 13" above case surface) and two recessed casters mounted into the lower edge of the case (with steel bearings and housings, for heavy duty use). Two hard rubber ‘feet’ level the case when at rest. Pull-Along cases can also have:
  • additional handles - on the ends, tops and/or sides
  • hinged lid, removable lid, or two lids for access to front and rear of instruments
  • regular catches, keylocking catches, or a hasp for your padlock
  • custom interiors, including shelves, rack rails, padded compartments, a ‘trap door’ in the lid. Appropriate foam padding is used to protect even the most delicate items, including static-dissipating foam.

Rack Mount cases’ include rack rails mounted to the sides, at the standard 19" width or any custom width. Rack Mount cases can also have:
  • a second set of rack rails at the rear, for instruments with dual mounts
  • choice of two 'Shock Mount' constructions
  • additional handles, to ease lifting
  • hinged lid, removable lid, or front and rear lids
  • regular catches, keylocking catches, or a hasp for your padlock
  • permanent or removable casters
  • multi-outlet strip mounted inside case
Rack-mounted components, with access to both sides

Store cartons two deep Cabinet Style’ refers to cases that open in the front, and usually have interior shelving. Cabinet cases can also have:
  • vinyl ‘pull straps’ to ease unloading deep shelves
  • additional handles - on the ends, tops and/or sides
  • regular catches, keylocking catches, or a hasp for your padlock
  • permanent or removable casters
  • oak or aluminum fork lift skids
  • custom provisions, including padded compartments, interior trays, a ‘trap door’ in the lid.

Extra Large cases’ are limited only by the size of a plywood sheet (4’ x 8’). Cases of this size are not recommended because shippers cannot handle them easily, but for those instruments that are unusually large, Armor Box offers the maximum available in protection. Your case can include:
  • additional handles - on the ends, lid and/or sides
  • removable inverted lids to ease loading/unloading
  • regular catches, keylocking catches, or a hasp for your padlock
  • oak or aluminum fork lift skids
  • permanent or removable casters. Steel caster protectors are available for permanently mounted casters, to shield them from fork lift damage
  • ‘piggyback’ mounted cases

Lightweight carry bags Soft-Sided cases’ The Soft Side was developed for those times when weight is the critical factor, but good protection of valuable contents is still vitally important. Soft Side cases are made of either heavy cotton canvas or synthetic materials such as Dupont Codura®: durable, water repellent, easily cleaned fabrics. These cases add little to the weight of the contents they carry, making them a good choice for sales demonstrations, field tests, etc.

Most Soft Side walls have three layers: an outer wall of water-repellent fabric, an inner core of shock-absorbing foam, and an inside layer of water-repellent canvas. Bottoms include an additional fiberboard flooring layer to provide a firm base. Single layer wall construction is also available, for those times when foam cushioning is not needed. The Soft Side cover is self-hinged or fully removable, and is secured with Velcro closure or a zipper.

Soft Side cases can include:

  • Accessory pockets on the sides or ends, to provide additional storage space
  • Handles and/or a removable shoulder strap, sewn on and wrapped completely around to support from beneath
  • Business card holder
  • Many colors to choose from
